WARS > The Seventh Wars
Robot Wars: The Seventh Wars
was recorded at RAF Newton, Bingham, near
Nottingham in August 2003. It promises to be the best ever series full of
the most awesome metal monsters on the planet battling it out in the
arena. The robots in this series have come on in leaps and bounds and are
much more advanced with greater technology and reliability than any other
series. The series promises to have the most carnage, action, destruction
and utter mayhem rolled into one series than ever before!
Changes for
the New Series
Robot Wars:
The Seventh Wars has changed channel. It is no longer being shown on BBC 2,
Five is now the broadcaster responsible for showing Robot Wars. A new
channel also means a new schedule, Robot Wars has moved out of its usual
Friday slot into a new Sunday afternoon slot. Repeats of each
episode air the following Saturday lunchtime at 12:50 on Five. With Five taking
over the showing of Robot Wars, it also means advert breaks so the Robot
Wars slot is now an hour long. Think positive, it gives you a chance to go
to the toilet so you won't miss out on any of the excitement! Being shown
on Five also means that everyone sees the show at the same time. Before,
people with BBC Choice (or BBC 3 it is now called) got to see a series
before BBC 2 viewers saw it which meant that there were quite a few
spoilers! Now, everyone sees it at the same time.
The rules
have changed slightly for the new series making it more entertaining as
well as safer.
Five liked the
show as it is so they haven't changed much of the existing format. As
people say, "If it's not broke, don't fix it!" But some other
improvements and changes to the show are explained below.
Other changes
for the new series include much improved and more advanced robots than
ever before. Also, famous robots (such as Chaos
2, Hypno-Disc and Razer)
are unable to attend because of other commitments. These created some free
spaces in the seeds. This allowed other robots, who really deserved it, to
be seeded. Also, expect some really advanced and tough new comers to join
the series, some are really ones to watch out for! They even take on and
take out the house robots! Should be full of excitement!
The main
weapon for this year is the flipper. We are seeing many high pressured
flippers in the arena and many more robots are coming to an end by being
flipped right out of the arena.
This series
will feature 16 heats instead of 12. This means more robots which results
in more action, carnage and destruction which is what we all love!
One of the
biggest changes to Robot Wars is the new presenter.
Philippa has left as pit reporter
presenter which meant there had to be a new one to take over. Philippa is
loved so much by the fans, so it would be a hard job to take over but I'm
sure the fans will really love the new presenter. Our lovely new pit
reporter, who has filled the shoes of Philippa, is Jayne
Middlemiss - the new queen of Robot Wars! She has done a really good
job at something which is not easy and she will definitely be a great
addition to the new series.
Existing house
robots have received some improvements and upgrades keeping them up to
date and so they can't easily be taken out by some of the competitor
robots.
Another change/addition/improvement for the new series is the addition of a new
house robot. This makes 9 house robots in total now. Cassius
Chrome is the name of this new 'bot. Roboteers have commented on how
funny it looks when it attacks a robot, apparently it wiggles his bum! In
my opinion, this is just a comedian house robot, guaranteed to cause a few
laughs with its looks! I don't think it will cause that much damage. It's
weapons aren't that effective, it has two spikes on the front which go in
and out, poking the enemy and making dents in him - not too much damage.
Apparently, this new house robot really enjoys lap dancing!
And there are
more improvements for this new series! There is now a pit cam which will
show you a close up of all the action in the pit of oblivion as a robots
falls into it!
The format of
the show is slightly different from last series too. There are 8 robots
fighting in each heat all wanting to get their hands on the grand champion
trophy (ha, bigger than ever before, I'll tell you later). In Round 1,
there are two battles each with four robots fighting each other. In each
of these battles, two robots will go out of the competition and two will
go through. So, in total four robots go through to Round 2 where there are
two one on one battles. The winner of each of these battles goes through
to the heat final and the winner of this battle is the winner of the heat
and goes through to the series semi finals!
In each show
there is also a special battle in between the Round 1 and Round 2 battles.
In the first show of this brand new series, it was a World Championship Qualifier
battle where two robots from different countries battle it out in the war
zone and the winner of this wins a place in the Robot Wars World
Championship which will be a special show at the end of the Seventh Wars
series to find out which country has the best robots and crown a new world
champion!
To motivate roboteers even more so they come up with even
better, more destructive, more advanced, more imaginative and totally
mayhem carnage causing robots, the grand UK champion for the Seventh Wars
won't just get a piece of metal shaped out to look like the Robot Wars
logo as a trophy for being the series winners which is still totally
excellent, but the series winners will get £5,000!!! That's right the
Seventh Wars grand champions will get a cash prize of £5,000
so they can build a totally awesome robot for next year's competitions or
do whatever they want with it. Craig
Charles announced this news at the start of the Seventh Wars. The
winners of the World Championship will also get a cash prize.

Robots in
Heat: Pussycat, Brutus Maximus, Twister,
Roobarb, Vader, M2,
Tiberius III & Shell Shock
Notes: The first show of a new
series on a new channel and it was ace! Pure metal mayhem, destruction,
action and carnage mixed in with new technological advancements in robot
building and combat. It is all much better than ever before! Craig Charles
could not catch his breath, he was so excited and so enthusiastic when
presenting this show. He was even losing his voice from shouting so much
with all the action and carnage going on in the arena! Pussycat, Brutus
Maximus, M2 and Tiberius III were the four robots who went through to
Round 2 after flipping fantastic Round 1 battles. Tiberius III caused
chaos and carnage with its Razer-like
chopping blade which chopped up, causing much damage to Brutus Maximus who
kept on sparking, went on fire, short-circuited and kept on exploding
inside before it was dumped down the pit. The first shock of the new
series came when M2 won against the ninth seeds, Pussycat on a judges
decision. For the first heat final in this brand new series, M2 and
Tiberius were in top form. For the majority of the battle, it really did
look like Tiberius III were going to win as they just caught on to M2 with
their blade and M2 could not get free until the house robots (when in the
CPZ) got the two robots unstuck and free from each other, M2 managed to
escape and then managed to flip over Tiberius III who were unable to self
right before pushing them down the pit. Not only the winners of this heat
but also the first place in the semi finals has been filled, M2 had won
the first heat final of the Seventh Wars and are now a step forward to
winning that awesome cash prize!
Cassius
Chrome also made his first appearance in this brand new series. He
wiggled his bum as he caused absolutely no damage to the competitor robot
at all even though their armour had been ripped off before! This comedian
house robot who had a career in boxing and lap dancing before joining the
ranks of house robots now boasts interchangeable weaponry. Sometimes there
may be spikes and other times there could be giant boxing gloves there and
waiting to box, punch and poke any robot who dares to get in his way. I'm
sure we are going to see some many funny times with Cassius Chrome who
will cause much laughter amongst the roboteers, the audience and us
watching at home!
The special event in between
Round 1 and 2 battles was a World Championship Qualifier
battle where two robots from two different countries (Sri Lanka and
Austria) battle it out in the war
zone and the winner of this wins a place in the Robot Wars World
Championship which will be a special show at the end of the Seventh Wars
series to find out which country has the best robots and crown a new world
champion!

Robots in
Heat: Kan-Opener, The Grim Reaper,
Barbaric Response, Big Nipper, Terrorhurtz*,
KillerKat, Jackson Wallop & Gyrobot
*Terrorhurtz,
the 3rd seeds were not ready in time and were therefore disqualified
before they even got into the arena. The 4 way melee they were supposed to
be in now only had 3 robots in.
Notes:
Excellent!
Great costumes, great laughs and great action! We saw the arena flipper
flip a robot out of the arena as well as another which went straight into
the pit. We saw Cassius
Chrome, the new boy do absolutely no damage, just wiggling. Sparks
really flew from Dead
Metal and Growler
was in fine form. The competitor robots
were fabulous too. We saw great tactics with robots shoving each other
around the arena on to the flame pit, into CPZs, trying to get their
opponent out of the arena or into the pit. In the heat final, it was Grim
Reaper Vs Big Nipper. All the attention was on the Grim Reaper team who
were most people's favourites and yes, they won on a controversial judges
decision. Grim Reaper tried to flip Big Nipper out of the arena but
couldn't and Big Nipper came back and pushed the Reaper around the arena
but in the end, it was the judges who had to decide.
The special event/battle in
tonight's fantastic, metal mayhem of a show as a featherweight battle with
many featherweight robots going around fighting each other. At the end of
the series, there will be a featherweight final to determine the
featherweight champion of the Seventh Wars. Two robots went through from
this battle but unfortunately I can't remember who they were because there
was so much going on down on the arena floor with robots being totally
squashed, debris flying all over the place, the floor flipper having a
flipping good time and as for the three heavyweight house robots in there
(Sir Killalot, Mr Psycho
and Growler) it was full of carnage.
It was very unfair as the house robots ganged up on the featherweights and
totally caused chaos and carnage destroying those poor little baby robots.
I think it was Prince of Awe and Ripper who went through.
I thought tonight's heat was
brilliant, full of all the destruction, action, utter mayhem, carnage and
havoc that you would expect form any normal Robot Wars heat. It also had
some great laughs in there too.

Robots in
Heat: Dantomkia,
Rick, King B "Powerworks",
Hassocks Hog 2, IG-88, Tomohawk, The Stag & Scorpion
Notes: In
Round 1, battle 2 we saw the first drop zone of the series when a sea buoy
fell on to a poor defenseless robot beneath.
Mr Psycho was doing a lot of work
in this heat. He kept on battering down (with his big hammer) on robots as
well as picking them up and tossing them out of the arena or where ever he
wanted them to be in the arena.
There were a lot of tactics and skill involved in this show with practice
on perfecting their driving skills paying off. The final was IG-88 Vs Dantomkia.
It was one of the shortest battles in the history of Robot Wars. It only
took 11 seconds for Dantomkia
to drive up to its opponent, push them towards the arena side wall and
flip them right out of the arena. Very quick and if you blinked, you would
have missed it! Excellent skill involved there. Dantomkia
were the worthy winners and have earned their place in the series semi
finals.
The
wonderful special battle in tonight's show was the Battle of the Spinners
starring Shredder Evolution, Infernal Contraption and Barberous 2 and a
Bit. Three spinners put into the arena together, who would survive?
Barberous was the first robot in the pit followed by Infernal Contraption.
Shredder Evolution won, well done!

Robots in
Heat: 13
Black,
Herbinator, The Alien, Lightning, Gravity, Hydra,
Thor & Hodaf The Bad
Notes: Well, we saw
lots of action in this heat but where's Matilda?
I haven't seen her for a long time. We saw the drop zone dropping a heavy
metal ocean buoy on to the Alien which managed to stay in tact. We saw
many flips in the fourth show of the Seventh Wars and some fantastic
forward rolls and summersaults. One robot was flipped not just right out
of the arena but onto an arena side wall, completely destroying it before
being flipped on to a camera and completely destroying that too before
going out. Cease had to be called because the battle was just getting far
too dangerous and for safety reasons had to be stopped before the whole
arena collapsed. The judges then decided the two robots to go through up
to the point cease was called.
Gravity, the fantastic Dutch
robot, the best robot I have seen from the continent, is definitely one to
watch. Not only did it manage to completely wipe out all of its opponents
including the 7th seeds, 13
Black
but it also had a go at the house robots and took them all out. Gravity
flipped over Shunt
and then went on the attack against Dead
Metal who was at this time very angry. For the first time in Robot
Wars, Dead
Metal was flipped over which is a very hard thing to do because of his
pincers. He actually went flying through the air. Watch out when Gravity
is about and as Craig Charles rightly
said at the end of the show based on Newton's law, what goes up, comes
down in pieces on Robot Wars! Awesome action and excellent entertainment
in this heat. The robot from Holland goes through.
The special event in tonight's
show was a bit of a disappointment. Two American robots were fighting in a
World Championship qualifier. The winner will qualify for a place in the
World Championship representing America to be shown at the end of the
series. Flipper never got started, it didn't even move and all Spartacus
had to do was hit the pit release button and drag Flipper who wasn't doing
much flipping today, into the pit and then it was all over. Spartacus earn
a place representing USA in the World Championship - poor old Flipper. All
the way across the pond for that!

Notes: Some serious
carnage in this heat with the reigning champs back in action! In the first
round we saw Sawpoint 2, Devastator, Barber-ous 2'n a
Bit and Thunderpants (who never actually made it into the arena) go out.
The special event was a Featherweight battle with many tiny robots
fighting each other. Many were miniature versions of the daddy robot, e.g.
DTK was a tiny Dantomkia.
We saw a giant washing machine being dumped on the walker featherweight.
Amazingly, the robot managed to stand up to the tumbling washing machine
which was the thing that got heavily damaged. Two robots from this battle
(DTK and Bernard) go through to the Featherweight Final later on in the
series. It sure was a "flipping furious featherweight frenzy"
out there as Craig
Charles put it! Back to the Seventh Wars action which saw Leveler 2
go out to the number one seed, Tornado
and Ewe 2 went out to Tetanus Booster which went through to the heat final
but was no match for the Sixth Wars
grand champions, Tornado
who won and goes through to the series semi finals!

Heat: X-Terminator,
Major Tom 3, Tsunami, Diabolus,
Fluffy, Killer Carrot
2, Scarey-Go-Round & Constrictor
Date of first
Transmission: 06/12/03
Notes: The
first episode in its new Saturday evening slot and it was totally AWESOME!
It was full of maximum damage and carnage. Nearly every defeated robot
went out of the arena in tonight's show. I lost count at five! It truly
had the wow factor, had your jaw open in awe and had you hanging off the
edge of your seat. Yep, I almost fell off it! The first round saw damage
caused to robots who were flipped out of the arena. Diabolus was
diabolical, Scarey-Go-Round wasn't scary at all, Fluffy was disappointing
and Major
Tom 3 went out too.
The
special event of tonight's show was Axe Attack where we saw three robots
axe the opponents to pieces. Hydra,
Kat
3 and Iron Awe battled it out to see which robot had the best axe.
Kat 3 went out first and Refbot
counted them out. Hydra were the next to go as they were unfortunate to be
sitting on the pit as it was lowering so it was bye bye to them. Iron Awe
were the winners. We also saw Cassius
Chrome take a good battering and poor old Shunt,
now in old age, was flipped over. He tried to use his axe to self right
but failed. I do feel sorry for him now. He definitely has passed the peak
in his life but he is still very reliable.
Back to the awesome action of
the Seventh Wars and round 2. We saw X-Terminator
using their spinning
disc to cause havoc and chaos in the war zone. Total damage was caused to
Killer Carrot 2 who spun right out of the arena. The German machine,
Tsunami gave Constrictor a good lesson in flipping and they too went out.
So, to the climax of the heat
- the final! It started off slow but then the pace got faster. Tsunami
flipped X-Terminator on to the arena side wall. They were stuck and
couldn't get off. In an attempt to flip the out of the arena, Tsunami
accidentally knocked X-Terminator back on to the arena floor and back into
action. From now on, the battle had turned. X-Terminator used their weapon
very effectively to cause damage and destruction to their opponent
flipping them over. As Tsunami ran out of CO2 high pressure gas
which powers their flipper, X-Terminator managed to use their high speed
disc (rotates at about 1,500 rpm) to move in for the kill and Tsunami went
right out of the arena. The much improved X-Terminator won and go through
to the series semi finals. The Germans, a bit disappointed, said that they
would come back but it was definitely worth coming over for it.
Craig Charles
then said his sign off poem about spinning weapons and that X-Terminator
are the daddies when it comes to using them. The show was then all over
for another week. The hour of mayhem continues next week and I look
forward to it with a lot of excitement and suspense!
We love mayhem, we want mayhem
and we get mayhem! It could only be ROBOT WARS!!! Sorry, I'm still excited
about tonight's show. I'll go now and have a drink!

Turtle and Cygnus (x3) go out in the first battle. In the second, it's Araknia
and I Bot One Beta
who go out of
the competition leaving 4 remaining robots to fight one on one to
determine who fights in the heat final. Before Round 2, it was time for
the special event of tonight's show which was a world championship qualifier.
Ireland lost and went down the pit leaving the South Africans to go
through. The spinner on the Irish robot was very powerful and this was
seen when it ripped a hole in one of the arena side walls. The crab robot
will represent South Africa in the world championships. Now back to the
serious business of the Seventh Wars. Hellbent were flipped right out of
the arena by Atomic and Smidsy's
jaw was used to great effect to lift up Mean Streak so it was leaning on
the side wall. The robot could not recover from this position and they
were counted out and then it was play time for the house
robots who were feeling hungry for carnage. So we have the heat
finalists, Smidsy and Atomic. There was pushing, there was running and
there was some flipping fantastic flipping going on! Atomic's very
powerful flipper flipped Smidsy (the seeded robot) right out of the arena
and that was that for Smidsy, never before beyond the heats. Smidsy out of
the arena and out of the competition and Atomic, the worthy winners go
through to the series semi finals.

Notes:
Robot Wars just keeps on getting better and better and the last show
before Christmas sure was a cracker! It had me on the edge of the seat all
the way. There is just so much going on in each show that I have to tape
it and watch it again and again and I'm glad Five put on the repeats of
each heat so you have another chance of seeing anything you missed. This
show had all the house robots in and had the
most action from the house robots than any other heat this series.
Well, Round 1
Battle 1 saw Metalis being counted out and pitted. Dead
Metal and Growler had some fun
with it before it went down the pit. The judges had to decide on the other
three on who would go out and it was the great costumes of the fifteenth
seed Ming DieNasty team who sadly had to say bye bye.
Round 1 Battle 2 had some
action with a laptop (Mega Hurts LT - the LT stands for lap top) who gave
some flips and got flipped and was counted out before Growler tossed him
around the arena and put him on the arena flipper. Ever seen a laptop fly
before, well you did in this show! The laptop crashed and Growler was no
mouse in the arena tonight before pushing Mega Hurts into the pit which
must have mega hurt! St Agro, the double sided double flipper had a
flipping good time and was the one to watch in this battle. Scraptosaur
turns into scrap as they were flipped out of the arena by St Agro. So
there goes another two robots. 8 robots at the beginning already down to
4!
Then it was the special event
of tonight's show as we took a break from the Seventh Wars carnage for a
short while. Tonight's mechanised mayhem special battle was the Crusher
Crunch Up battle with three robots all with crushing weapons and pincers
fighting. Mantis was the first to gain points as they pushed R.O.C.S. into Mr Psycho's
CPZ who dished out some damage. There was crushing, crumpling and piercing
going on in this battle with electronics flying, frying and popping.
Pincer got into the electronics of R.O.C.S. and completely wrecked and
crushed them. Mantis got burnt on the flame pit. Pincer's hydraulic fluid leaked out causing an explosion in the arena and in the
end all three robots were stuck together hardly moving. Mantis was the
only robot moving (just about) at the end so the judges
went for them and the other two robots, Pincer and R.O.C.S. went
out. Congratulations to Mantis!
After another advert break it
was back to the Seventh Wars serious action with carnage being created in
Round 2 where the surviving 4 robots from Round 1 go one on one. The
double sided double flipper of St Agro won the first battle of this round
when Scraptosaur were immobilised (possibly by Cassius Chrome
who was in attack mode tonight). It was then squishing time for Robot Wars
as Scraptosaur were placed on the drop zone after Sir Killalot
had finished with them. St Agro will go on to fight either Ceros or
Revolution 3 in the heat final.
In the second battle of the
second round, Ceros won against Revolution 3 who just died because they
didn't put in the removable link properly (which is a safety device which
when removed disables the robot) and it just fell out killing the machine.
With no one else to attack, Ceros took on the house robots who weren't
pleased. Shunt was flipped over (again,
lost count of how many times this has happened to him in this series,
three I think) and Sergeant Bash
then took on Ceros. House robots Vs competitor robot, I like it when it
happens! Bash and Ceros on the edge of the pit, who would go in first?
Bash's wheels, two in and two out of the pit! It was so close! However
Cease was called first and the brainless Bash and Ceros were still
tussling together. Refbot righted
Shunt (good to see house robot team work) but it was all over. Ceros go
through.
Right, to the heat final.
Ceros Vs St Agro. Oooo, so close, more edge of the seat action! Flipping
here, flipping there, flipping everywhere. St Agro flipped Ceros on to
their side, they self righted (with the help of Refbot). There were more
flips and lots more pushing. The pit was lowered and each one almost went
in. Matilda then got her bum involved
causing damage to St Agro's wheel (took half of it away) but St Agro
flipped Ceros over on to their side who (after several self righting
attempts) had run out of carbon dioxide which powers their flipper and so
could not self right and were stuck on their side against the arena side
wall. Ceros could do no more. St Agro had won and did their victory
dancing flip. Matilda then used her pink bum to finish Ceros off. The
sheer power of her disc was enough to propel Ceros right out of the arena
and also to cause major damage to Ceros' armour ripping parts off of it.
It was then the end of another
great show but before the end, it was time for yet another Craig Charles
sign off rhyme!
"Get down to your garages
and your electrical stores and build yourself a robot for Robot
Wars!" Craig Charles.
Wow, I've written a lot for
this heat! Must be high on caffeine; or may be it is adrenaline from
watching this awesome show?! Anyway, have a great Christmas and come back
next week to see more carnage from Heat I.

Notes: The last show of the year and what an
awesome one it was! In the first battle of the first round saw Supernova
go out and Mayhem did as well. Matilda's
flywheel finished off Mayhem and Sir Killalot's
track came off when Supernova hit it with their flywheel. Storm
II and Rhino go through. In the second battle, Steel Avenger
and Trax go through and Sub-Version 1.1 went out as they
were pitted and Shredder Evolution lost on a judges decision.
There
was no special event in tonight's show. Instead Jonathan
gave us a recap on all the action so far in the heats telling us who has
already made it through to the series semi finals.
In
round 2, Rhino lost to Steel Avenger as they eventually went down the pit
and Storm II won against Trax. Trax lost on a judges decision. It was
always Storm II being the aggressive one pushing them into the CPZs. Trax
never seemed to be gaining any points.
The
last fight of the night was the heat final. Steel Avenger and Storm II
were fighting each other one on one. They both deserved to get this far.
Steel Avenger didn't cause any damage to Storm but they did manage to
cause damage to the arena floor when they got their axe stuck in it. Don't
attack the arena floor, get the robot! Storm II then used superb driving
skills to drive their very fast 25 mph machine around the arena while
pushing Steel Avenger and banging them against the arena side walls. This
would knock out electronics and internal workings in the robot,
immoblising them. These were the Storm II boys' tactics. The awesome power
and speed of the Storm machine (more powerful than Sixth
Wars grand
champions Tornado)
then smashed the poor Steel Avenger against the arena side wall and all
this energy had to go somewhere and it did - it propelled Steel
Avenger right out of the arena and right out of the competition! They
could do no more. Storm II had won, the crowd cheered and they fill the
next place in the series semi finals.

World Championship Qualifier which Belgium won) fight it out one on one.
Kronic The Wedgehog goes out to the Mouse and the lobster finished off The
Kraken. So, the first heat final of 2004. Mighty Mouse just kept on
running away and hiding from Thermidor. Absolutely no aggression from the
Mighty Mouse. Thermidor kept on flipping them but the Mouse just rolled
back the right way up. They couldn't get them out of the arena, no matter
how hard they tried. The Mouse just kept on running away bashing into
everything in the arena. Thermidor then tried to get Mighty Mouse down the
pit but missed. The house robots got involved
too. In the end the Mouse lost some motors and could only drive in straight
lines. It went to a judges decision and no
surprise that Thermidor
II won who were pleased to make it through to the semi finals.
Thermidor II the worthy winners. They have a great flipper and have
managed to get many robots out the arena in the past but with the standard
of this year's flippers, even Thermidor could have a tough challenge in
the semis.

Breed caught the judges decision when mesh/netting came out of the
robot. This is illegal and is not allowed because it can get caught in
spinning discs, arena grinders etc. In the end, it went to a judges
decision. They gave Bulldog Breed the benefit of the doubt because it
wasn't intended as a weapon it was just there to protect the very
expensive cylinders inside the robot. Derek Foxwell (senior technical
consultant on Robot Wars) told them not to use it again. Bulldog Breed and
Mantis went through. In the second battle, two robots ended up in the pit
and Kat
3 and Hard go through.
The
special event of this show was the Seventh Wars Middleweight Final.
Middleweight robots competed to be middleweight champion. Typhoon,
Phoenix and Steel Sandwich battled it out and in the end Typhoon won. Seventh
Wars Middleweight Champion: Typhoon
(for the third year in a row!).
Round
2 saw Bulldog Breed winning against Hard who were immoblised on the first
or second hit from the dog robot. The house
robots then had their fun, especially
Mr Psycho. The drop zone and floor
flipper were also brought into play here. The second battle of Round 2 saw
Kat 3 winning against Mantis on a judges decision.
So, to the heat final, Kat 3
Vs Bulldog Breed. It was a very good fight and a very close one too. The
judges had to inspect damage close up before they could make their final
decision. Kat
3 hadn't caused much damage to Bulldog
Breed and a lot of their axe attacks had missed so the judges declared
Bulldog Breed as the winner. They go through to the series semi finals for
the first time.

I was lucky that I got back from my long cycle ride just in time for Robot
Wars so I didn't miss it, otherwise you would have had to wait a whole
week for this!
Mr Psycho
was in fine form and in a very good mood. He used his claws to pick up
robots and take them where he likes as well as his huge heavy hammer on
robots which get too close. Demolition Man is counted out and pitted and
Corkscrew Two is flipped right out of the arena. For the second battle
Crustacean goes out of the arena and Tartarus, well, did nothing, just
died and was left at the mercy of the house
robots.
The special event was a World
Championship Qualifier. Three German robots battled it out but only one
could go through to represent Germany in the World Championships.
On to Round 2. Poor old Behemoth,
so experienced and have been in the wars for a very long time but they
seem to be very unlucky every time. One of these days, they'll get through
but not this time. They seemed to be stuck in forward gear and could only
drive forward bashing into things. They lost all control of the robot. So,
Mute went through. Judgeshred 3 beat the UFO and the judges go through to
fight Mute in the heat final.
The
heat final was a long and tiring battle. Both robots got lots of flips in
but in the end it went to a judges decision who
decided that Mute were the winners and they go through to the semi finals
leaving the poor Judgeshred team very disappointed.

Another close one! Just got back in time from my mountain biking adventure
in and around some of England's most beautiful countryside. Got back at
16:00, five minutes before the show was due to start and was so glad I
didn't miss it. It was one of the most entertaining and action packed
shows in the Seventh Wars so far. The fights were some of the best I've
seen this series. Not just because of the damage and destruction but
because of the skill, tactics, driving experience used to gain an
advantage over the opponent and to eventually win the match. Tactics from
opening the pit, trapping a robot and pushing them in the pit or CPZs to
tactics like conserving battery power so there is some left at the end
when the other robot has almost died. So, Robot Wars is not just mindless
violence. A lot of intelligence and skill goes into creating the fighting
machines and then you need good tactics and good skills to control your
robot in the arena and hopefully to win. People also learn much from it as
well from science, robotics, electronics, design, technology, maths,
physics, engineering, electronics and the list goes on and on. It gets
females involved in these sort of subjects too which is always a good
thing. It makes engineering cool for kids. It is also very entertaining to
watch.
Rather a long
introduction there so I better get going with the action from Heat M.
Round 1 saw
the Welsh teams (Mega Morg and 8th seeds and Second
Wars champions, Panic
Attack) work together to defeat the other two robots by pushing them
into the pit and causing damage so they go through. Then in the second
battle, Holland's Tough As Nails took them all on, trapping them in its
horizontal hydraulic crusher and dumping them in the pit so they go
through to Round 2 and so do Robochicken who go through too because they were
put in the pit after another robot was counted out.
The
special event was the little featherweights fighting in a Featherweight
battle to determine which two would go to the final later on in this
series. Whipper and Rampage 2 won the battle which saw featherweights
flying about the arena and being totally destroyed. Some people think that
it is very unfair to attack an already immobilised robot. Mini Mute were
very unfortunate. They could not move any more and were counted out but
then Sir Killalot
came in, picked up the robot and lowered it over Matilda's
rear vertical spinning disc which ripped up and totally wrecked the robot
which took 3 years to build and was totally destroyed in less than 5
minutes. Mini Mute were defenseless and could not fight back but were
being ripped up by the house robots. It will
take a very long time to fix their robot. Not a quick fix like they said.
Needless to say, the Mute team were not pleased at all. One of them shook
his head and just left the control pod in the middle of the fight. They
were absolutely furious. Anyway, just to remind you that Whipper and
Rampage 2 were the two featherweights to win this battle. All the others
were either immobilsed, pitted or in lots of small pieces all over the
arena.
Back to the heavyweights of
the Seventh Wars and Round 2 where the survivors from Round 1 (two from
each battle) go head to head to determine who goes through to the heat
final. Panic
Attack sustained a lot of damage from Tough As Nails. Panic
Attack's front lifting folks were ripped off and were useless. It was a
tough battle and pushing power and the robot who had the best traction of
the arena floor had an advantage. The pit was opened and it was a match to
see who could get the other robot in the pit first. Tough As Nails won.
The 8th seeds went out. The second Round 2 battle was won by Robochicken
by flipping Mega Morg over and they could not self right from their. Mr Psycho
came in with his hammer and a washing machine fell from the drop zone on
to Mega Morg but it was the washing machine that went into the pit first!
Robochicken were very pleased to win the battle and get through to the
heat final - for the first time ever.
The heat final was a tough and
intense one. Tough As Nails were being flipped all over the arena by the
chicken but they were using a lot of gas in powering their flipper which
eventually ran out. Tough As Nails came back into the battle as
Robochicken were becoming very weak. Then it was push and more pushing as
both robots tried to get the other into the pit first. Wheels were
spinning but no robots were moving. Traction and pushing power were needed
here. Time eventually ran out and it went to a judges decision. The crowd
didn't like it but the judges decision is final
and they went for Tough As Nails who go through to the semi finals leaving
the chicken boys to cluck their way back to the farmyard!
"Tough As Nails finally
catches the chicken in its jaws and gives them a one way ticket out of Robot
Wars!" Craig Charles.

Notes:
This heat had all the qualities that make a good Robot Wars show. It had
action, comedy, carnage, tactics, skill, laughs and was enjoyable to
watch. I'm sure that everyone who took part in it also had a great time.
The show also had lots of FF (flipability factor) and it also had plenty
of CF (crushability factor) which led to many FFFFs (flipping frenzy
frolic fights)!
In Round 1, Chip is
flipped out of the arena by Spawn
Again, The Executioner goes out and so does NEATer Machine and the
Dublin robot, Topbot went out too when they lost on a judges decision.
The
special event of this show was a World Championship Qualifier. Terror
Turtle from Canada drove on to Snake Bite from Switzerland who then
proceeded in crushing the turtle and filling it with many holes before
dumping it into the pit. The Swiss Snake Bite machine, bites back and is into the world
championships.
In
Round 2 of Heat N of the Seventh Wars, Spawn Again flips over the crushing
robot of R.O.C.S. (Radio Operated Combat System) who is counted out by Refbot
and Revenge of Trouble and Strife is pitted by Raging Knightmare who go on
to fight the Spawn Again team in the heat final. In a very interesting
heat final, Spawn Again has an explosion inside their robot blowing out
the pneumatic system and is now unable to flip. In an attempt to open the
pit they get stuck on to the arena side wall. Raging Knightmare then came
in and flipped Spawn Again over who lands on top of the arena wall,
perched there, just sitting there until another flip from the Knightmare
causes Spawn Again to go out of the arena and out of the competition.
They, for the first time ever do not make it to the series semi finals.
The sixth seeds are out and Raging Knightmare go through to the semis.
Another great show which
proved once again that it isn't just how good a fighting machine your
robot is but also your driving skills and experience matter greatly in
robotic combat and often the well driven robot with not such a good weapon
can win against the poorly driven robot with a fantastic weapon. Other
times it is just luck but skill, thinking ahead and tactics do come into
it a lot. Also be prepared. Make sure your robot is fully charged and
ready to fight!
Another amusing part of this
show was when Mr Psycho lost his
head - he became decapitated! Ha, never seen that before! Great stuff,
especially for the kids. It just proved that Psycho has no brains!
"With all the cheers and
all the uproars, Spawn Again gets the Knightmare on Robot Wars!" Another
one of Craig's amusing sign off rhymes.

Notes: Round
1 sees the Men In Black Overalls robot URO (Unidentified Rotating
Object) go out when they were counted out and pitted and so was Colossus.
Disconstrictor drives into the pit by accident and so they go out and the judges
decided to get rid of Xenomorph so they had to say goodbye as well.
The
special event was a World Championship Qualifier to decide which Dutch
robot will represent Holland in the world championships. Tough As Nails demonstrates
excellent driving skills when they use their jaws to capture Scraptosaur
and push them into the pit. Gravity, the wonderful flipper robot from Heat
D tries to flip Tough As Nails but they can run both sides up and in the
end they grab hold of Gravity and they are beaten as they go into the pit.
Tough As Nails won the battle and will represent Holland in the World
Championships.
Round
2 saw some of the most exciting battles of the series so far. The shock
came when the 4th seeds Bigger
Brother were flipped out the arena by Iron-Awe 2.1 Bigger Brother
makes the first attack flipping Iron-Awe but they weren't close enough to
the arena wall to go out. They self righted and then flipped Bigger
Brother out. The second Round 2 battle saw the true potential of the
amazing Typhoon
2 robot. Their main tactics (even though they are top secret, the air
cadets say) are to stay away from the opponent until the top speed of
their spinning machine is reached then they go in for the kill. Hammerhead
2 becomes extinct when Typhoon hit them at maximum speed. The robots come
into contact then fly apart. Typhoon doesn't damage itself because of
"secret parts" but does damage the other robot ripping armour
and plates off of them. The link came out and they were immobilised. Typhoon
then very sportingly stay away from the robot once they are immobilised,
they don't go in and completely trash it because it would be very
expensive to repair. Hammerhead got trashed, got flipped then got squished
on the drop zone before they went into the pit.
The
heat final was one of the best fights of the series so far. Typhoon took
on Iron-Awe completely trashing them and letting the sparks fly. Whenever
they come into contact, damage is caused to Iron-Awe and bits of robot
come flying off. The flipper then stopped working on Iron-Awe and Typhoon
kept on hitting them causing damage until they were dead and no longer
moved. The energy of the impact of the two robots is enough to send
Iron-Awe flying right across the arena. Iron-Awe dies and is left to the house
robots to play with. An oven falls down from the drop zone and Typhoon
have won the heat final and they fill the penultimate place in the series
semi finals. Well done Typhoon who storm their way through!

Notes: Oh
my God! What on earth was that? This was probably the best heat of the
series and what a way to finish them and lead on to the semis. The final
place of the series semi finals have now been filled and we await in
suspense to see who will win the Seventh Wars. What a tremendous, action packed show it
was! I was on the edge of my seat the whole way. I got a huge adrenaline
rush just by watching it. It was adrenaline pumping action seeing kilos of
heavy metal being flipped 10 or more feet into the air crashing down with
debris going everywhere all over the arena. Explosions, damage, carnage
and chaos it was. Robots which take months to build are destroyed in mere
seconds!
Round 1, Fight
1: Five robots instead of four because Black & Blue was a cluster bot
so double trouble but it also means they were lighter and had less
damaging weapons because the cluster bot's total weight must weigh no more
than the normal weight of a heavyweight (100kg) and once one cluster bot
goes out, the rules say, they both go out and that's what happened when
the amazing second seed, Firestorm
pushed one of them into the pit but that was after some brilliant action
with them being flipped right over the arena and Daisy-Cutter spinning
around causing damage to any robot which came too close. (Phew, I need to
catch my breath after saying all that!) As for the Dutch machine, Bamm Bamm,
well, they never really got started as they were flipped by Firestorm,
never self righted and were placed on to the pit which was then lowered
and down they went.
Round 1, Fight 2: The
awesome Ripper with a HUGE flipper made their first appearance here. I
loved seeing Aggrobot being flipped everywhere, dancing across the arena
and Zorro were flipped over and never self righted. They were then counted
out,
Psycho then dropped them on the
drop zone but Zorro escaped, Psycho gave chase, caught them and then
dropped them into the pit. Aggrobot was still dancing everywhere, mainly
in the air. The judges decided that they should
go out so Ripper and Reptirron The
Second go through.
Time
for a break from the Seventh Wars action for tonight's special event which
was the Featherweight Final. Rampage 2 Vs Prince of Awe Vs Whipper Vs
Bernard Vs Rip The Flip Vs DTK. I couldn't keep up with the manic out
there. Baby Dantomkia (DTK)
was very aggressive pushing both Prince of Awe and Bernard into the pit.
Rip drove in the pit, oh dear. Rampage 2 then started just going round in
circles and were counted out by Refbot
before Sir Killalot picked them
up and dumped them on the arena floor flipper. Rampage 2 was flipped
miles! They went into orbit and then came down with snow on top! Well they
would have done if the arena roof wasn't in the way! They were flipped
right out of the arena. I love the featherweights! The two surviving
robots at the end of the fight were DTK and Whipper and it went to the
judges who decided DTK (probably because they were the more aggressive) to
win the featherweight competition. Winners of the Seventh Wars
Featherweight Tournament: DTK
Round 2, Fight 1: Reptirron The
Second Vs Firestorm. No surprises here that the second seed one by
flipping Reptirron over who then got caught on the arena side wall and
couldn't self righted. Firestorm then backed up, aimed and drove in with
speed successfully flipping Reptirron right out of the arena.
Round
2, Fight 2: Daisy Cutter Vs Ripper. It didn't take long for Ripper to win
this. First flip and Daisy Cutter were over and couldn't self right. They
were out. Ripper then got stuck in with the house
robots flipping them everywhere. That was great entertainment for us
but for them, it was very foolish. They suffered series and unnecessary
damage from that for taking on the house robots when they should have been
thinking about the heat final. Shunt
went over after a few axe attacks and got stuck on the side of Sir
K whose breast plate came off. He was mean, menacing and absolutely
furious with Ripper for taking them on. He means evil and he showed them
evil. Refbot then went over and bits
came flying off him. Poor Refbot! What did he do to anyone? Sir K then
pushed them into the pit and the audience cheered with excitement shouting
for Ripper.
The Heat Final: Firestorm
V Vs Ripper. Ripper was not in top form after some serious damage from
the previous battle with their house robot encounter. Firestorm flipped
Ripper over who couldn't self right. Firestorm thankfully flipped them
back over again otherwise it would have been a very dull heat final.
Ripper flipped but missed. Firestorm were too low to the ground and
couldn't be flipped over. Firestorm's excellent driving skills and many
years of experience paid off. They pushed Ripper to the side walls and
flipped them. Ripper were pinned on to the arena wall and couldn't get
down. Refbot then came in and counted them out, but forgetting how to
count. 26, 27, 28, 29, 10!! Firestorm then flipped them out of the arena.

the other 2 robots through from next week's semi final to fight for the
title of Grand Champion!
Round 1 |
Dantomkia
Vs Gravity: The shortest battle in Robot Wars. All it took was
6 seconds for the Dutch machine to come in, get under Dantomkia
and flip them high and far right out of the arena. |
X-Terminator
Vs St Agro: The awesome spinning disc on X-Terminator got in
right away wrecking the other machine causing damage, destruction,
chaos and carnage. Debris was flying all over the arena. St Agro
were immobilised before being flipped on the arena flipper and
pitted. |
Bulldog Breed
Vs Tough As Nails: A very good match indeed. Tactics,
experience and driving skills all came into it. The usual tactic
for Tough As Nails of opening the pit, catching their opponent in
their claws and pushing them into the pit didn't work here.
Bulldog Breed was far too strong. There was a real tug of war
battle going on. Tough As Nails pushing and Bulldog Breed pulling.
It was a terrific, long and intense fight. Tough As Nails were
invertible and had giant wheels which stopped them going out the
arena. In the end, it went to the judges,
who decided Bulldog Breed to go through. |
Tornado
Vs Raging Knightmare: Raging Knightmare were strong at the
start, they even had time to flip Shunt.
Tornado came back into the fight and started to push the
Knightmare robot all around the arena, slamming them into the
walls. That's 100kg of metal hitting them at 10mph which certainly
does cause damage and knocks out internal workings. Raging
Knightmare were immobilised and couldn't self right. They were
eventually pushed into the pit. |
|
Round 2 |
Tornado
Vs Gravity: The Gravity boys had underestimated the Tornado
team. Tornado had the ramming weapon for this fight. Good driving
skills were an advantage here. Tornado drove around the arena
pushing Gravity everywhere, slamming them into the side walls with
great speed and force. Gravity hardly ever got a chance to flip Tornado
and they couldn't get under them to do so. Gravity then got a
puncture and were driving much slower which wasn't helping.
Tornado pushed Gravity on to the pit square, quickly hit the pit
release button and down they went. Gravity tried to get off, but
couldn't in time because of their flat tyre. They went out in a
puff of smoke. Tornado are through to the Grand Final. |
X-Terminator
Vs Bulldog Breed:
The spinning disc of the X-Terminator machine completely obliterated
the bulldog. Bulldog Breed tried to get in on the side of
X-Terminator to flip them but each time they did so, X-Terminator
turned and wrecked Bulldog even more using their spinning disc.
The flipper then got all buckled so there was no chance of them
flipping X-Terminator any more. The spinning disc then came in
totally wrecking their opponent. Damage, debris, chaos, carnage,
havoc were all created here. If you like destruction then you
would have loved this fight! Armour was being ripped off
everywhere. In the end it looked like one of the Bulldog Breed
boys was putting his hand up to call cease. They were finished,
they couldn't do anything anymore and you knew they knew it by the
looks on their faces. X-Terminator said they couldn't take any
risk and had to finish them off completely so there was no chance
of them using the flipper or something to turn the battle around
and win. X-Terminator go through along with Tornado to the Grand
Final which will be in two weeks time.

has silenced Bulldog Breed's roars and have made the grand final

Round
1 |
Firestorm
V Vs Mute: The two flippers went head to head. Mute kept on driving
over Firestorm who kept on flipping them. Mute's self righter kept
flipping them too much flipping them over the wrong way up wasting
previous CO2. In the end they were flipped over and couldn't self
right and Firestorm came in and knocked them out of the arena. It
was quite literally flipping fantastic! |
Typhoon
2 Vs Thermidor
II: Typhoon did their usual tactic of avoiding their opponent
until they had spun up to speed and then went in for the kill. All
it took was one slam into Thermidor 2 and the lobster was dead.
They couldn't move no more. The house
robots then came in and attacked Thermidor 2 which was flamed
on the flame pit (mmm, roast lobster!) then flipped on the floor
flipper before finally being squished by a washing machine on the
drop zone. The Edinburgh air cadets spin their way through. |
Storm II
Vs The
Grim Reaper: Storm
2 was always on top pushing The Grim Reaper all around the arena,
into the angle grinders, into the CPZs where the house robots
caused damage and then bashing them into the arena side walls.
Storm 2 was the one gaining all the points. Grim Reaper could
never get underneath Storm 2 to flip them. Time ran out and it
went to the judges to decide who had some
help from the dark shadow of the Grim Reaper. They decided Storm 2
to be the winners and they go through. |
Atomic
Vs M2: Lots of flips in this battle. It looked like M2 were
going to win. They managed to flip Atomic on to its side in the
CPZ but some how the tables turned and it was Atomic who made M2
fly right out of the arena. |
|
Round
2 |
Firestorm
V Vs Storm II:
There
was good driving from both teams. Firestorm never could get under
Storm to flip them because of very low ground clearance on the
Storm machine. The force of the storm increased as they were
pushing the Firestorm all over the arena and eventually into the
pit. The 16th seeds had beaten the 2nd seeds and they said that
they can't wait to take on the 1st seeds! |
Typhoon
2 Vs Atomic:
Atomic managed to get Typhoon before they spun up and they flipped
them but Typhoon didn't go over on to their side. They spun up a
bit more and then were flipped again by Atomic as they tried to
get Typhoon out of the arena. But a terrible thing happened as
Atomic flipped Typhoon, they accidentally flipped themselves over
and couldn't self right. Typhoon spun up to full speed and you
could really hear the deafening whirring sound that the Typhoon
was making. They came in and sparks flew as Atomic was hit by the
whirling Typhoon. It struck again, causing damage to Atomic before
they were counted out. Then it was time for some FFFF (Floor
Flipper Flipability Factor) as the Atomic robot flew across the
arena before eventually being pitted by Sir
Killalot. |

at first you don't succeed: flip, flip and flip again!" Jonathan

The Seventh

We started
with 128 but now there are only four robots left and only one can win!
So, who is UK
Seventh Wars Grand Champion?
The GRAND
FINAL was fantastic. It was one of the best grand finals ever and also one
of the best episodes of Robot Wars ever (in my opinion).
Eliminator
1: Tornado Vs Storm
II
|
Storm
2 has the most horse power and is the fastest robot in Robot Wars
with a top speed of 25mph. Can they beat the first seeds and last
year's grand champion? Right from the start, Storm 2 were pushing
Tornado all around the arena, shoving them everywhere and bashing
them into the arena side walls. They managed to use their lifter
once to flip Tornado over so they were less effective. Tornado
kept being pushed into the arena walls at top speed and they
bounced off the walls and went flying. The pit release button was
activated by Refbot and Storm
2 were quick to push Tornado on to the pit square but Tornado
managed to get off in time just before it lowered. Time ran out
and it went to the judges who went for Storm
2 who go through to the grand final final! |
|
Eliminator
2: Typhoon
2 Vs X-Terminator
|
Typhoon
were quick off the mark to spin up to full speed, running away
from X-Terminator to give them time to do so. X-Terminator missed
their chance of getting Typhoon while they were still vulnerable.
Typhoon then went in and caused damage to X-Terminator. Debris
went flying everywhere as bits came off from X-Terminator. They
got totally mangled and battered and then their disc stopped
working. Then Typhoon shattered one of the bullet proof arena side
walls just like glass and an emergency cease had to be called for safety
reasons. This was very dangerous and safety is always number one
priority. After the arena was repaired, the battle resumed with
the remaining time left to fight. The judges allowed Typhoon to
spin up to the speed they were at when the previous battle had to
be called to a halt. It didn't take long because after one bash of
Typhoon against their opponent, X-Terminator were immobilised. The
house robots were then very nice by
not giving X-Terminator any more damage and they just sent the
battered robot down the pit as Typhoon 2 go spinning
through. |
|
Third
and Fourth Place Playoff: Tornado
Vs X-Terminator |
This
battle is where the two losing robots from the previous two
battles fight to determine who is 3rd and 4th seed.
X-Terminator were
at an immediate disadvantage because of all the damage they
suffered from in their last battle. They did manage to fix most
things, but didn't have time to repair everything.
Tornado didn't
receive much damage at all from the spinning disc of X-Terminator
who were pushed around the arena being bashed into walls receiving
damage from both house robots and from the power of Tornado's
pushing ability and speed impacting them into the arena walls.
X-Terminator were eventually immobilised and were counted out.
Tornado then tried
to push them into the pit but failed because they couldn't get any
traction on the arena floor because their wheels were covered in
hydraulic fluid which had leaked everywhere from clumsy old Sir Killalot.
Tornado won the battle and they are 3rd and X-Terminator
place fourth.

This
is the GRAND FINAL battle where the winning robots from the first
two battles of this show fight and the winner of this is declared
7th Wars UK GRAND CHAMPION. They win money, a trophy and a lot of
fame!
This was real
intense, adrenaline pumping and edge of the seat stuff.
Typhoon spun up and
went in for the kill but they just glanced off the amazing armour
of the Storm machine. They just reflected off causing no damage.
Typhoon then ran away to give themselves time to spin up to speed
as Storm 2 gave chase, being the more aggressive robot. Storm 2
then lifted Typhoon and pushed them around for a bit as the
clearly very excited Jayne Middlemiss
watched from the edge of the arena shouting to the robots,
cheering and putting her hands over her mouth. Everyone was
enjoying it. Typhoon were not flipped over and managed to get away
to spin up to full gyroscopic speed once more but then they hit
one of the arena side walls which shattered again and cease had to
be called. The arena was being
wrecked and it wasn't safe to continue. While the arena was being
repaired, Jayne talked to the judges who said, "Storm 2 are
slightly more ahead but it could still go either way."
The battle resumed with the time
remaining left and Typhoon being allowed to spin up to full speed
again like before. Storm 2 pushed Typhoon around. Typhoon did
manage to cause some damage to Storm by ripping off one of their
front body panels and causing some debris on the arena floor.
Time ran out and still neither one
of the robots could finish off the other. It went to the judges
who looked very nervous. They inspected both of the robots very
closely assessing all the damage sustained.
Storm 2 won on control and aggression.
Typhoon 2 won on style and damage. In the judges points scoring
system, damage carries the most points and is the most important
and this helped them to decide. It was going to be a very
controversial decision. The audience seemed to think Storm 2 had
won it. Ooooooo, so very tense. I could hardly breath while
waiting for the decision to come through. It went on Typhoon's
side and they won the decision, the battle and the Seventh Wars. Typhoon
2 are the new UK supreme champions! They are first place and
Storm 2 win second. The Storm team looked very gutted. Typhoon 2
were ecstatic. The beautiful Jayne Middlemiss then came on to
award the Typhoon team with their trophy. They also win £5,000 in
cash. They are the Seventh Wars grand champions!

Annihilator
Six robots
fight together and one will be knocked out. Six down to five, then five
down to four until only one is left - the annihilator champion!
Fight
1 |
Raging Knightmare Vs Robochicken
Vs Ewe 2 Vs Kan-Opener
Vs Ripper Vs Vs Flippa |
Robochicken counted out
and they are the first to go out. They were flipped over and
couldn't self right. |
Fight
2 |
Raging Knightmare Vs Ewe
2 Vs Kan-Opener Vs
Ripper |
The American robot
Flippa never made it into the arena because it was suffereing from
severe technical and electrical problems so Flippa goes out. In
this battle, Ewe 2 were flipped on to their side and couldn't get
back the right way up and was counted out. Raging Knightmare were
saved by the skin of their teeth because they were being pushed
into the pit as Refbot was
counting Ewe 2 out and if Raging Knightmare had gone into the pit
before Refbot finished his count, they would have gone out instead
of Ewe 2! Ooo, so close! |
Fight 3 |
Raging Knightmare Vs Kan-Opener
Vs Ripper |
Six down to three.
Kan-Opener, the reigning Annihilator champions ganged up with
Ripper against Raging Knightmare. Two against one, not fair. Life
is never fair especially, Robot Wars! The Knightmare had no chance
against this terrible team work. Ripper opened the pit and
Kan-Opener pushed Raging Knightmare into it! |
Fight 4 |
Kan-Opener
Vs Ripper |
No alliances in the
final. It started off a good fight with high expectations but
Ripper developed a fault. They lost drive and couldn't move
forward. They were stuck, spinning in once spot and were counted
out by Refbot. Kan-Opener was smoking at the end of the fight, but
they are the victors. |

House
Robot Rebellion
The special
event in this show was the house robot rebellion. Two
robots are brave (or foolish) enough to take on the house robots. House
robots Vs competitor robots? Hmmm, who do you think? Well actually, after
seeing this battle, I'd say that the competitor robots won.
Gravity
and Behemoth Vs Growler,
Cassius Chrome and Mr
Psycho |
Just for a bit of fun.
Gravity, the awesome Dutch flipper robot moved in and flipped
Growler over. Ha ha, bet he never saw that one coming! Growler,
flipped over! Behemoth over turned Cassius Chrome and pushed him
into the pit. The house robots, losing fast had to resort to
cheating. The arena pit was raised and Refbot helped Cassius
Chrome to self-right. Behemoth and Gravity went after the almighty
Mr Psycho. The mighty hammer kept on bashing down on Gravity
completely battering them and eventually they broke down. Behemoth
was all alone. They tried to flip Mr P over but all to no avail.
The hammer kept bashing down. Behemoth drove over the floor
flipper which flipped them high and far. Fortunately, they were
able to self-right. Gravity was not going anywhere so Behemoth
tactically drove behind them and attempted to push Gravity into Mr
Psycho so Gravity's awesome weapon could then have a chance of
flipping the mighty beast. But it didn't work, Cassius Chrome came
in and ruined all their plans and then "cease" was
called. |

Panic
Attack Vs Kat 3 Vs Firestorm
V Vs Bigger
Brother |
No one took on each
other, they all ganged up against the house robots. Firestorm
flipped Shunt who was pushed
around. Then they took revenge out on Cassius
Chrome and they also had a go at the Refbot!
Cassius Chrome was pushed around, flipped around. It was absolute
mayhem out there. Rules, what rules? There were no rules! Kat 3
hammered Cassius Chrome whose eye popped out. He was then spiked
and axed by the competitors. Firestorm V and Bigger Brother drove
into the pit and they go out of the competition. |

Panic
Attack Vs Dantomkia |
It didn't take long for
Dantomkia to flip Panic Attack over, they couldn't self right and
then Dantomkia pushed the series 2 grand champions towards the
arena side wall and out of the arena! They then also had time to
take on the house robots who really
have been punished tonight and will need counseling. Dead
Metal and Growler weren't
much good at fighting back. They got battered and went out of
control. By the end of the fight, it seemed that they were
immobilised. Yellow card from the Refbot! |
Dantomkia |
Kat
3 Vs Pussycat |
The fight of the cats.
Kat 3 kept missing with their axe. Pussycat used their blade and
scraped all the paint off from their opponent causing massive
scratched. However, the blade didn't penetrate the armour. It went
to the judges who went for Pussycat who won it on damage. |

What
Happened |
Winner |
Pussycat
Vs
Dantomkia |
Tense stuff here.
Pussycat's blade got stuck in. Dantomkia couldn't get their
flipper under Pussycat for long enough to make an effective flip.
Pussycat at a hard robot to flip because they always land right
way up and it is hard to get them into the position so they can be
flipped out the arena. Dantomkia just died and Pussycat knew they
had won. Dantomkia were immobilised and counted out. The new
All-Stars champion then takes on the might of the house robots.
Yes, they were being taken on again! Mr P was not pleased.
Pussycat's blade got stuck into Cassius Chrome who was furious. Mr
P, trying to grab Pussycat with his claw, accidentally got Cassius
Chrome's face. Cassius Chrome then gave Mr
Psycho a long evil stare. Then it was back to chasing Pussycat
who pushed the house robots around. In the end, both competitor
robots ended in the pit and it finished off with a bit of fun. |

Robots from
across the globe fight in this international contest to see who will be
crowned Robot Wars WORLD champion!
So, which
country has the best fighting machines?
Well, I sat
down with my beer to watch the show, the last show in the series and quite
possibly the last ever Robot Wars because it is very doubtful that they
will make any more series of this great show.
So, to the
world championships and my beer!
Round
1 - Four three-way
melees where only one robot goes through to the World Championship
Semi-Finals. |
|
Fight 1 |
Spartacus (USA) Vs Hard
(Belgium) Vs Supernova
(Sri Lanka) |
Lots of damage to
Spartacus from Supernova's spinning disc which ripped sides off
from the USA machine and caused massive dents. Hard were
immobilised and were counted out. Spartacus' spinning disc stopped
working and then they were only working on one wheel and turning
in circles. Supernova then became stuck and stopped moving. Refbot
began to count out Supernova but they started moving and the count
had to be stopped but then Supernova stopped moving. Meanwhile,
Hard was placed on to the drop zone by Dead
Metal. Refbot then counted out Spartacus who had not moved for
a long time. |
Winner: Supernova |
|
Fight 2 |
Pulverizer (The
Netherlands) Vs Snake Bite (Switzerland) Vs Crushtacean (South
Africa) |
Crushtacean hit the pit
release and tried to push Pulverizer into the pit. Snake Bite
never started moving, it just conked out and were counted out. The
house robots then had their fun on
it. Crushtacean kept on battering Pulverizer by ramming it into
the arena wall. Snake Bite then started moving but it was too late
because they had already been counted out. Crushtacean was still
being extremely aggressive on Pulverizer. Snake Bite started
attacking the other competing robots and Dead Metal had to stop
them fighting, they had already been beaten! In the end, the judges
went for Crushtacean leaving the Elvis dressed team of Pulverizer
to leave the building! |
Winner: Crushtacean |
|
Fight 3 |
Ansgar 3 (Germany) Vs Storm
II (United Kingdom) Vs Tornado
(UK) |
The UK teams took on
the German machine, pushing it around and slamming the walker into
the side walls. Ansgar then got stuck on the flame pit and
internal workings got fried. Then, Storm pushed Tornado around.
Then Tornado pushed Storm around. Torando pushed Storm who were
pushing Ansgar who went into the pit. Storm 2 and Tornado were
fighting each other now, pushing each other around the arena and
bashing each into the side walls. It was a tough decision for the
judges and in the end they went for Storm II. |
Winner: Storm
II |
|
Fight 4 |
Typhoon
2 (UK) Vs Tough As Nails (Holland) Vs RawBot (Sweden) |
First out were the UK
Seventh Wars Grand Champions, Typhoon 2 because of technical
problems so they withdrew before they got into the arena. So two
robots left. Tough As Nail attacked Rawbot. The pit was opened and
the Dutch robot attempted to push the Swiss machine down it and
after a few tries, they do so. Tough As Nails goes though after
this short fight. |
Winner: Tough As Nails |
|
Semi-Finals
- The winning robots from Round 1 fight one on one and the winners
go into the grand final. |
|
Fight 1 |
Crushtacean Vs Supernova |
Spinner Vs claws. The
crab-like, Crushtacean, drove straight into the spinning disc of
Supernova hoping to grab it before Supernova got a chance to spin
up but the disc bashed Crushtacean which caused fatal damage to
the South African robot. It could only move in circles. The
Supernova then bashed their opponent for a second time which
completely knocked it out and they were dead. Then it was time to
see the crab fly on the arena flipper! |
Winner: Supernova |
|
Fight 2 |
Tough As Nails Vs Storm
II |
Storm 2 drove straight
into the clutches of Tough As Nails. Storm's awesome power was
able to push the Dutch machine around the arena. Tough As Nails
were slammed into the arena side walls with great force. This
caused one of their tyres to fall off. Te storm is too strong and
it was blowing Tough As Nails around the arena with gale force
power as Jonathan Pearce put
it. Storm 2 then managed to push Tough As Nails into the pit but
it was a close one because Storm 2 were very close to dropping in
to it themselves but Tough As Nails went over and it was al over
for the Dutch. |
Winner: Storm
II |
|
The World
Championship Grand Final - The Titanium Titans go into battle
to determine the most feared robot on the planet! |
Supernova
(Sri Lanka) Vs Storm
II (United Kingdom) |
Storm 2 got in first.
They got underneath Supernova then pushed it around the arena. The
disc of Supernova caused no damage to the Storm, just a few
sparks, that's all. Storm 2 pushed Supernova into the arena side
wall lifting them and Supernova were on their side balanced on the
arena wall and couldn't self right. Their disc was churning up the
floor so typical old Refbot comes in and self-rights them. In the
mean time, Shunt had pushed Storm 2 onto the grinders and they
were on their side and couldn't self right. They finally managed
to get down and started attacking Supernova again. Time then ran
out as "Cease" was called. The judges said that Refbot
should not have interfered and self righted Supernova. They also
said Supernova were unable to move for longer than the period
necessary to deem a robot "immobilised" and therefore
and rightly so went for Storm 2. Storm II, the new World Champions
were then awarded their trophy from Jayne
Middlemiss. |
